A beta version was first piloted during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). According to the release, over 10 crore registration forms have been processed since the beta release.

Who Can Apply for a Voter ID Online?
Any Indian citizen who turns 18 on a qualifying date can register. Earlier, there was only one qualifying date, 1 January. However, after the amendment explained in a PIB release of 28 July 2022, there are now four qualifying dates every year.
- 1 January
- 1 April
- 1 July
- 1 October
In addition, young people aged 17 and above can apply in advance. As a result, they no longer have to wait for the next 1 January after turning 18. So, check which qualifying date applies to you before you fill the form.
Which Form Should You Fill?
The ECI redesigned its registration forms with effect from 1 August 2022. Choose the right form for your need.
| Form | Use |
|---|---|
| Form 6 | Application to include your name in the electoral roll. It is also used when shifting to another constituency. |
| Form 6B | To give your Aadhaar number as an existing elector. Giving Aadhaar is voluntary. |
| Form 7 | Objection to the proposed inclusion or deletion of a name. A death certificate can be attached. |
| Form 8 | Single form for correction of entries. |
Note that the old Form 8A for transposition within the same constituency has been discontinued.

Keep your EPIC number handy, as it makes the search quicker.
