- NASA Astronaut Christina Koch has created a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman. She has surpassed the earlier record of 288 days in space which was previously established by NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson in 2017.
- She would return to Earth in February 2020. Till then, she would have spent more than 300 days in the space. She is onboard the International Space Station since 14th March 2019.
- The world record for the single longest mission by any space explorer whether man or woman, is held by cosmonaut Valery Polyakov, who spent 438 consecutive days onboard Russia’s former space station Mir from January 1994 to March 1995.

- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
- Governor of Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu has administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren, in the presence of senior political leaders and chief ministers from across states.

- 49th Border Coordination Conference between border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh was held in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was headed by DG Border Security Force Vivek Kumar Johri and the Bangladesh delegation was headed by DG of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) Md Shafeenul Islam.
- The conference focused on co-operation in Border Guarding and Border Management between the two forces. During the conference, both forces agreed to make all possible efforts to curb the menace of cattle smuggling or any other criminal activity and to ensure tranquility on the borders.
नई दिल्ली में भारत और बांग्लादेश की सीमा सुरक्षा बलों के बीच 49वां सीमा समन्वय सम्मेलन आयोजित किया गया। भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व डीजी सीमा सुरक्षा बल विवेक कुमार जौहरी कर रहे थे और बांग्लादेश के प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व सीमा
रक्षक बांग्लादेश (बीजीबी) के महानिदेशक एमडी शफीनुल इस्लाम कर रहे थे।
सम्मेलन में दोनों सेनाओं के बीच सीमा सुरक्षा और सीमा प्रबंधन में सहयोग पर जोर दिया गया । सम्मेलन के दौरान दोनों सेनाएं पशु तस्करी या किसी अन्य आपराधिक गतिविधि के खतरे को रोकने और सीमाओं पर शांति सुनिश्चित करने के लिए हर संभव प्रयास करने पर सहमत हुईं ।
Current Affairs on Chief of Defence Staff.
- Indian Army General Bipin Rawat has been named as the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The Chief of Defence Staff will be a 4-star General, the principal military advisor to the defense minister, and will head the new Department of Military Affairs.
- The Chief of Defence Staff will ensure the jointness in training, logistics, and procurement of the three services. General Rawat is the first officer to hold the post of the Chief of Defence Staff
- The Defence Ministry had also amended the army, air force and navy rules by bringing in a new clause that allows the CDS to serve up to a maximum age of 65 years.
- The CDS will administer all tri-services organizations, but their command will be with the Chief of the service which has a predominant role in their functioning.
- भारतीय सेना के जनरल बिपिन रावत को देश के पहले चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ (सीडीएस) का नाम दिया गया है। रक्षा सेनाध्यक्ष 4 सितारा जनरल होंगे, जो रक्षा मंत्री के प्रमुख सैन्य सलाहकार होंगे और सैन्य मामलों के नए विभाग का नेतृत्व करेंगे ।
- चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ तीनों सेनाओं के प्रशिक्षण, रसद और खरीद में संयुक्तता सुनिश्चित करेगा । जनरल रावत रक्षा सेनाध्यक्ष का पद संभालने वाले पहले अधिकारी हैं
- रक्षा मंत्रालय ने एक नया क्लॉज लाकर सेना, वायुसेना और नौसेना के नियमों में भी संशोधन किया था, जिससे सीडीएस अधिकतम 65 साल की उम्र तक सेवा कर सके।
- सीडीएस सभी त्रिकोणीय सेवा संगठनों का प्रशासन करेगा, लेकिन उनकी कमान सेवा प्रमुख के पास होगी जिसकी उनके कामकाज में प्रमुख भूमिका है।
- Finance Minister has launched an e-auction platform “eBkray“. The platform will enable online auction of attached assets by banks. The platform provides navigational links to all PSB e-auction sites, property search feature.
- It also presents single-window access to information on properties up for e-auction, comparison of similar properties, and also contains videos and photographs of the uploaded properties.
- Indian Banks Auctions Mortgaged Properties Information (IBAPI) portal is an initiative of Indian Banks Association under the policy of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance was launched to provide a platform to give details of mortgaged properties to be auctioned online by Banks, starting with PSBs.

- State Bank of India will introduce One Time Password (OTP)-based ATM cash withdrawals. The step has been taken to reduce the occurrences of unauthorized transactions happening at ATMs. SBI will introduce a one-time password for every cash withdrawal of Rs 10,000 and above between 8 am and 8 pm.
- The OTP-based cash withdrawal will be effective from January 1, 2020, across all SBI ATMs. When an SBI cardholder will enter the amount of cash he/she wishes to withdraw, a screen will appear asking for the OTP. The customer will then have to put the OTP that the bank will send to the registered mobile number.
- OTP is a system-generated string of numeric characters that allow users to make a single transaction. The facility will not be applicable at other banks’ ATM as this functionality has not been developed in National Financial Switch (NFS).
भारतीय स्टेट बैंक वन टाइम पासवर्ड (ओटीपी) आधारित एटीएम कैश निकासी शुरू करेगा। एटीएम में हो रहे अनधिकृत लेन-देन की घटनाओं को कम करने के लिए यह कदम उठाया गया है। एसबीआई सुबह 8 बजे से रात 8 बजे के बीच 10,000 रुपये और उससे अधिक की हर नकदी निकासी के लिए एकमुश्त पासवर्ड पेश करेगा।
ओटीपी आधारित नकदी निकासी एसबीआई के सभी एटीएम में 1 जनवरी, 2020 से प्रभावी होगी। जब कोई एसबीआई कार्डधारक नकदी की राशि दर्ज करेगा, तो वह वापस लेना चाहता है, एक स्क्रीन ओटीपी के लिए पूछती दिखाई देगी। इसके बाद ग्राहक को ओटीपी डालना होगा कि बैंक रजिस्टर्ड मोबाइल नंबर पर भेज ेगा।
ओटीपी संख्यात्मक पात्रों की एक प्रणाली-जनित स्ट्रिंग है जो उपयोगकर्ताओं को एक लेनदेन करने की अनुमति देती है। यह सुविधा अन्य बैंकों के एटीएम पर लागू नहीं होगी क्योंकि यह कार्यक्षमता राष्ट्रीय वित्तीय स्विच (एनएफएस) में विकसित नहीं की गई है।

- The pontiff of Pejawar Mutt, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami passed away in Udupi. He was born at Ramakujna in Dakshina Kannada district on April 27, 1931.
- He was ordained as a monk at the age of eight in 1938, as the 33rd seer in the linage or ‘guru parampara’ of the Pejawar Mutt.
- Vishwesha Tirtha Swami made history by becoming the only seer among the seers of the Ashta Mutts (eight mutts) of Udupi, which propagate the Dwaita philosophy, to have performed five biennial Paryayas.
पीजावर मठ के पोटिफ, विश्वात्मा तीर्थ स्वामी का उडुपी में निधन हो गया। उनका जन्म 27 अप्रैल 1931 को दक्षिण कन्नड़ जिले के रामकुजना में हुआ था।
उन्हें १९३८ में आठ साल की उम्र में भिक्षु के रूप में , वंश में 33 वें द्रव या पीजावर मठ के ‘ गुरु परमपारा ‘ के रूप में चुना गया था ।
विश्वामित्र तीर्थ स्वामी ने दवेता दर्शन का प्रचार करने वाले उडुपी के अष्ट मठ (आठ मठ) के सीरियों के बीच एकमात्र द्रष्टा बनकर इतिहास रच दिया, जिसने पांच द्विवार्षिक परिय्याकाओं का प्रदर्शन किया।।
- Indian Grandmaster Koneru Humpy wins the World Women’s Rapid Chess Championship held in Moscow, Russia. She won the title after drawing the Armageddon game against Lei Tingjie of China. Humpy lost the first tie-break game and then won the second to reach the Armageddon game.
- China’s Lei Tingjie won the silver and Ekaterina Atalik of Turkey settled with bronze. Humpy is only the second Indian to win the rapid gold in the current format after Vishwanathan Anand who won it in 2017.
